Arts in Education
New York Center For Flamenco Performing Arts / Arts Flamenco
Arts Flamenco promotes the Spanish art of flamenco in all three of its forms: cante, the song; baile, the dance; and guitarra, guitar playing. It also educates the public about the historical and cultural influences that shaped the form’s development. An ongoing program of lectures, demonstrations, live performances and dance workshops through which participants learn aspects of flamenco technique is also offered.
Schools and Other Groups
Students receive lessons in the geographical and historical origins of flamenco music and dance. In cooperation with the educator, company teaching artists explain and perform several musical and dance forms of flamenco including alegrias, seguiriyas, soleares, bulerias, tangos and others.
